Moulana Abdurragmaan Khan is the second Imam at Masjid Ar Raghma in Capetown South Africa. He studied at the prestigious Dar al – Ulam al – Arabiyah al – Islamiyyah and is a Hafith Al-Quran. He completed memorisation of Quran under Sh. Ismail Londt (1st student to complete memorisation under Sh. Ismail) in the year 2000. He joined the Dar al-Ulum al-Arabiyyah al-Islamiyyah in the year 2002 where he benefited from the schools various teachers specifically the school’s founder and rector, Ml. Taha Karaan (qaddasa Allahu ruhu), and has continued benefitting from Ml. Taha Karaan through special study sessions, focusing on modern relative issues such as mu’amalat ,maliyyah , mu’asirah or modern Islamic business law amongst others.
He also assists in the issuing of legal verdicts for DUAI, and has taught Mughni Al-Muhtaj of Imam Khatib Ash-Shirbini at Dar Al Ulum Al Arabiyyah wal Islamiyyah since 2006. Ml. Khan received ijazah ’ammah from different luminaries, including but not restricted to: Allamah Habib Umar ibn Hafiz – a personality who affected him greatly; who has changed his relationship with Allah -, Ml. Yusuf Karaan; Habib Kadhim as-Saqqaf, Shaykh Mahmud Sa’id Mamduh, Ml. Abdul Hafiz al-Makki, Sh. Ala ad- Dind al-Afghani, Ml. Fazlur Rahman al-Azami and others. He received ijazah in the qira’ah of Imam Kisa’i from Sh. Idris from Malawi and is currently reciting the seven Qira’ah to Ml. Saleem Gaibie.
He has been aiding Shafifiqh.com and the Ummah as a whole by answering questions submitted to the website. He is also the founder and co-rector for Dar al-Turath al-Islami (DTI) in South Africa. He hopes to continue to benefit the Ummah by sharing and preserving the legacy of Imam Ash-Shafi’i (radiya Allahu ‘anhu).
